Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silavat held a review meeting at Mantralaya regarding the situation of excessive rainfall, dam safety and floods in the state. Principal Secretary Manish Singh, ENC of Water Resources Department Shishir Kushwaha and other officers were present.

Water Resources Minister Silavat instructed the officers that the control rooms set up at the state and district level should remain functional 24 hours and all the districts should be in continuous contact. Information received should be communicated immediately. In case of water logging, inform the local district administration before opening the gates of the dams. The Collector and the local administration of the affected districts should be informed in advance for this.

Minister Silavat said that the officials of the department should assess the flood situation. In view of the inflow of water in the dam and reservoir, start the process of opening the gate with additional water-filling. Minister Mr. Silavat instructed that senior officers should be deployed for major reservoirs and dams. The responsibility of the officers should be fixed. He directed ENC Mr. Kushwaha to take all necessary steps to control floods in view of the current water situation in dams in the state and excessive rainfall in neighboring districts. Situation of excess water-logging should not be created anywhere. A constant watch should be kept for this.

Chief Engineer Mr. Kushwaha said that the situation of water-level is normal in all the 42 medium and large reservoirs of the state. There is no situation to release water anywhere due to excessive rainfall. Water was released from only 2 dams. Now the situation is normal.
