Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the “Chief Minister’s Electricity Bills Relief Scheme” at Sleemanabad in Katni district.

He said during the period of Covid, electricity bills worth more than Rs.6400 crore till August 31, 2020 of 88 lakh consumers of the state will be waived off, which will be paid by the state government.

Chouhan said that the district administration and public representatives should organize camps for waiver of electricity bills in their respective areas and give benefits of the relief scheme to the eligible beneficiaries and give them a certificate of electricity bill waiver.

He said the state government is spending Rs. 21000 crore every year in electricity subsidy.

The chief minister said the dry fields of the area would be irrigated by making a micro lift irrigation scheme to overcome the problem of irrigation in Bahoriband-Reethi assembly constituency.

He also approved the scheme for drinking water in 159 villages of Katni district. On demand of MLA Pranay Pandey, the chief minister announced to rename Bahoriband College as Veerangana Rani Durgavati, Sleemanabad College on name of Swami Vivekananda and newly constructed bus stand of Bahoriband as Veerangana Rani Avanti Bai.

Chouhan also announced to start commerce and science classes in Bahoriband from the coming session and college in this area and ITI in Reethi from the coming session.

On the occasion Chouhan distributed benefits of electricity bill waiver, Mukhyamantri Udyam Kranti Yojana and other government schemes.

The Chief Minister also released a booklet showing the upgradation work of Anganwadis of Katni.

In Katni district, more than 1700 individuals including public representatives, social workers and other persons have spent an amount of Rs.1.18  crore for the upgradation of Anganwadis by adopting them.
