The consumers will be able to complain sitting at home on toll free number, Minister for Food Civil Supplies Govind Singh Rajput said.

The announcement was made by the minister in state level program held on World Consumer Rights Day.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput said that for the convenience of consumers, a toll free number will be issued at the state level.

The consumers will be able to lodge complaints sitting at home on this number.

Immediate action will be taken on their complaints. Minister Rajput was addressing the program organized in Bhopal on World Consumer Rights Day.

Minister Rajput said that important provisions have been made in the interest of consumers in the Consumer Protection Act-2019 issued by the Government of India.

The consumers can take appropriate action under these provisions. Consumers have the right to information, safety and hearing in the selection of goods or services.

The consumer can get appropriate redressal on unfair trade practices. He said that consumers should also make full use of the ‘Right to Repair’ right. Avoid being cheated under any circumstances.

District Consumer Commissions will open in Alirajpur, Agar-Malwa, Singrauli and Niwari.

Minister Rajput said that consumer commissions have been constituted in 48 district headquarters of the state. Soon consumer commissions will also be formed in Alirajpur, Singrauli, Agar-Malwa and Niwari districts.

He said that till February 2024, 63 thousand 886 cases have been registered in the State Commission, out of which 56 thousand 738 have been resolved.

Similarly, 3 lakh 20 thousand 861 cases have been registered in all the District Consumer Commissions, out of which 2 lakh 90 thousand 333 have been resolved.

The Commission is taking action on consumer complaints within time limit. Minister Rajput said that if we are cheated, then we must lodge our complaint. World Consumer Rights Day will be meaningful only when we all become aware of our rights.

Minister Rajput tested the purity of ghee:

During this period, Minister Shri Rajput also visited the exhibitions organized by various departments.

He himself tested the purity of ghee and coriander. Minister Shri Rajput said that the purity of various products in the market should be tested regularly.

Minister Rajput gave first prize of Rs 1 lakh 11 thousand to Bharatiya Upbhokta Utthan Sanghtan Katni and second prize of Rs 51 thousand to Advocate Santosh Kumar Soni of Sagar in the state level consumer protection award category.

In the state level essay competition, Ayushi Srivastava got first place, Avani Bairagi was given second prize and Gayatri Ahirwar was given third prize.

In the poster competition, first to Devi Lodhi, Sonali Verma got second and Anupama Kakodiya got the third prize.

In the exhibitions organized by various departments, the first prize was given to the exhibition of Food Corporation of India, second prize was given to Madhya Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Corporation and third prize was given to the exhibition of Food and Drug Administration Department.

The drama “Jago-Grahak-Jago” was also staged in the programme.
