Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Bhopal Municipal Corporation has given a message to the country in the field of environment and use of alternative energy. Madhya Pradesh will neither remain sick nor remain poor. Chief Minister Chouhan said that now the people of Bhopal should take a pledge to become number one in cleanliness. Madhya Pradesh will grow rapidly in every field. Solar City is being built in Sanchi. Preparations have been made to provide electricity to every house through solar energy. It is necessary that initiative should be taken in this direction in Bhopal as well. Let us all together make the capital Bhopal a solar energy city. The contract to build the two captive projects is exemplary and wonderful.

Chouhan was addressing the virtual launch of 21 MW solar power and 15 MW wind power projects and contract execution programme between Municipal Corporation Bhopal and solar power and wind power companies at Kushabhau Thackeray Auditorium today. The contract was executed in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Chouhan and other public representatives.

Chouhan said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has resolved to use alternative energy sources. The Prime Minister’s resolve is being realized in Madhya Pradesh. The agreement signed in the interest of Bhopal city today, is a wonderful initiative. For this, Municipal Corporation Bhopal and Urban Development and Housing Department deserve congratulations.

Emphasis on the use of alternative energy sources in the state

Chouhan said that a solar energy based project was started in Rewa in Madhya Pradesh. Today there is a need to reduce the use of fossil fuel. Madhya Pradesh has taken many initiatives in this direction. After Rewa’s solar power project, projects were also started at Neemuch, Shajapur and other places. Now preparations are on to lay solar panels on the surface of the dam in Omkareshwar. Recognizing the dangers of global warming and climate change, the earth has to be made livable. We have to utilize nature, not exploit it. For the last one month, the situation of rain and hailstorm is prevailing. Flood and drought conditions are seen in many places. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Bhopal is the cleanest capital. It can also be recognized as the cleanest city in the country. This also requires joint efforts.

Chouhan gave information about the growth rate, per capita income, contribution of Madhya Pradesh in the agricultural sector and the country’s economy. He said that today along with Narmada, Vindhya, Bundelkhand Expressway, the works of Atal Expressway are being done in the state. The Chambal region which was notorious for dacoit menace will now be known as Chambal Safari. Tourism is developing rapidly. About 20 years ago, the then government had considered it impossible to bring Narmada water to Bhopal. Today, not only Bhopal, but many cities of Malwa region are getting benefited from Narmada water.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh has said that Bhopal is getting a big gift today as per the instructions of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. This project of solar and wind energy will prove to be a milestone in the field of energy for Bhopal city. Such projects can also be established in other municipal corporations and municipalities. Bhopal Municipal Corporation will save Rs. 14 crore every year from this project. There will be a further increase in this in the coming times. He said that with the will-power of Chief Minister Chouhan, the state is making remarkable achievements in all urban development schemes in the country. Along with this, proper and coordinated development of all the cities is taking place. Today Madhya Pradesh is among the five leading states of the country. He informed that Bhopal Municipal Corporation will get electricity at the same rate for the next 25 years while the electricity rates will increase.

Medical Education Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang said that new dimensions of development have been established under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Chouhan. Significant work has been done in the field of alternative energy. The Mayor of Bhopal, Smt. Malti Rai said that a lot of electricity is used in the work of water supply. At present Rs. 12 crore per month is being spent on electricity. The savings plan for the next 25 years will be implemented through 2 projects. There will be an annual savings of about Rs. 14 crore. Solar plants are being installed in all the zonal offices of the Municipal Corporation. With these projects, 60 percent power demand of Municipal Corporation Bhopal will be fulfilled.

Earlier, the guests were welcomed by presenting Tulsi saplings. Chief Minister Chouhan also released various publications. MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh, MLA Krishna Gaur, Former Mayor of Bhopal Alok Sharma, BDA Chairman Krishna Mohan Soni, Chairman of Municipal Corporation Kishan Suryavanshi, Rajesh Hingorani, people’s representatives, Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing Neeraj Mandloi was present.

Notable Aspects of the Projects
