Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has instructed the officials of Jal Nigam and Public Health Engineering Department to keep a constant eye on the maintenance of water supply schemes in rural areas. Officers should also visit rural areas and monitor the works. The Chief Minister was addressing the 23rd meeting of the Board of Directors of Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam at the Chief Minister’s residence, Samatva Bhawan. Public Health Engineering and Public Relations Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and senior officials were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Chouhan directed in the meeting that along with Jal Nigam, departmental officers should establish continuous communication with the citizens in their work area. Effective efforts should also be made to encourage citizens to save water through street plays and other publicity activities, to ensure maintenance of water supply schemes for their smooth operation and to ensure hassle-free water supply with public co-operation.

Chief Minister Chouhan also apprised himself about the activities of Jal Jeevan Mission in Madhya Pradesh. In the meeting, information was given about the process adopted by Jal Nigam for study, design, development, implementation, annual maintenance and service of the current status of the project and asset management system and the work related to the selection of project management unit for group water supply schemes. Selection of financial management consultancy, operation of group water supply schemes, supervision for maintenance and quality control were also discussed.

District Mineral Foundation

A meeting was also held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan regarding the conduct of development works from the District Mineral Foundation. Mineral Resources and Labor Minister Brijendra Pratap Singh was present in the meeting. In the meeting, along with apprising about the previous works done by DMF, the proposed works were discussed.
