Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired the Narmada Control Board meeting held today at Samatva Bhawan. Narmada Valley Development Minister Gauri Shankar Bisen, Water Resources Minister Tulsi Ram Silawat, Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Kamal Patel, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and concerned officials were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Chouhan, after apprising himself about the implementation of various irrigation projects, directed to complete the works on time and with quality. It was told in the meeting that the target is to provide irrigation facilities in a total area of 22 thousand 490 hectares in the next one year by completing the left out villages from the Khalwa Lift Micro Irrigation Project. Due to Covid, the pending process of determination of command area and the delay due to environmental clearance is being given to the work being done expeditiously. Similarly, 85 percent work has been completed in Narmada Jhabua Petlawad-Thandla-Sardarpur Lift Micro Irrigation Project. The project work will be completed soon. It was informed in the meeting that the scheduled completion date for the under construction Sleemanabad Tunnel is October 2023. The necessary shaft construction work in the 12 kilometer long tunnel for the purpose of ventilation in the project was discussed. It was told in the meeting that among the newly approved projects, three projects in Katni, Harda and Khandwa districts will irrigate an area of one lakh 12 thousand 220 hectares.

Mega project board meeting

Chief Minister Chouhan sought information about the works under construction in another meeting of the Major Project Control Board. These include Shamgarh-Suwasra of Mandsaur district, Chentikheda Major Irrigation Project of Sheopur district and projects of Chhatarpur, Shivpuri and Burhanpur districts.
