New Delhi: Second Test being played in Centurion between India and South Africa has been special for fast bowler Mohammad Shami. On the second day of the match, Keshav Maharaj of the hosts, caught by Parthiv Patel, completed his 100 Test wickets today. Shami achieved this success in his 29th Test. In the Indian fast bowlers less than Shami, great Kapil Dev (25 Tests) and Irfan Pathan (28 Tests) have completed the ‘century’ of the wickets. Fast bowler Javagal Srinath (30) and Ishant Sharma (100) in the 33rd Test, had Shami caught three wickets in the second in the first Test of the series.

The 27 year-old Shami had started his Test career in Kolkata against the West Indies in 2013. Born in the year 1990 in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, Shami plays for the Bengal team in domestic cricket. He is the best performer for five wickets in Test cricket by 47 runs. They have achieved the achievement of taking five wickets in an innings. Shami has also played 50 ODIs and 7 T20 matches for India. They are also close to completing the ‘hundred’ of wickets in ODIs too. He has taken 91 wickets in ODIs so far at an average of around 25. In T-20 matches, Shami has taken eight wickets so far. Shami is the seventh fastest bowler in India and 21st in total to reach this milestone. Anil Kumble (619) has been the highest wicket-taker for India. As far as the fast bowlers are concerned, Kapil Dev has taken 434 wickets for India.
