In Indian society, neglect of daughters is seen in many areas. Daughters were considered a curse. In the villages it was believed that only sons have the right to education and not daughters. Daughters are only there to take responsibility of household works.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that women themselves used to consider atrocities by husbands as justified in the quarrels between husband and wife. Seeing this, the soul was in pain. The son was also considered pride of the family and help of old age.

But in many cases the indifference of the sons and the affinity of the daughters for the parents was visible. Chief Minister Chouhan said that due to social tendency, the number of daughters had also come down.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that he often used to raise slogans like “Beti Hai To Kal Hai” in his speeches.

An old Amma had also interrupted him after hearing this slogan that whether you will take the responsibility of marriage of daughters. This question was provoking.

This scheme started from the year 2007, became so popular that today there are more than 43 lakh Ladli Laxmis in the state, who are today associated with this program along with the family members.

Chief Minister Chouhan informed that Ladli Laxmi Yojana was linked with education.

Arrangements were made to pay incentive amount for the daughter on passing in various classes. Ladli Laxmi Yojana 2.0 has been started to help Ladli Laxmis for admission in college. Now the state government will arrange the fees of the college.

Additional Chief Secretary, Women and Child Development Ashok Shah said that Chief Minister Chouhan has initiated social revolution in Madhya Pradesh through Ladli Laxmi Yojana.

After passing class 12th, the financial assistance of 25 thousand rupees to the daughter on going to college will be helpful in choosing a career by educating her.
