Karnataka grieves over death of Shivkumara Swami. CM HD Kumaraswamy: State government declares a three-day state mourning and one day holiday for all schools, colleges and government offices on the demise of Siddaganga Math seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji.

Shivakumara Swami, chief seer of Sree Siddaganga Mutt in Karnataka, passed away at 111-years old on Monday. Death ceremony is to take place on Tuesday. He has been unwell since 8th December and following the operation, a lung infection contracted. After the news of his demise got confirmed, CM Kumaraswamy reiterated to reporters, “Siddaganga Math seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji passed away at 11.44 am today. The cremation will be done on 22nd January at 4.30 pm.”

Swami, also known as Nadedaduva Devaru in Kannada (The Walking God), he had been operated to treat an infection in his liver and bile duct. Due to developing lung infection, he was hospitalised on January 3 and was later shifted back to his mutt. Soon his condition worsened and he was put on a ventilator. As per the medical records, he had shown signs of improvement on Sunday but his condition had again deteriorated on Monday morning and passed away.

A large number of devotees have gathered the mutt on the tragic demise.
