Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State Government is committed to improving access to health services.

An MoU has been signed with Prashanti Medical Services and Research Foundation so that parents get treatment of their children for congenital heart defects conveniently and to make expert services available to them. Chouhan was delivering an address on the occasion of the MoU signed between the Foundation and the Public Health and Family Welfare Department on behalf of the State Government at the residence office Samatva.

Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary, Additional Chief Secretary Mohammad Suleman, Health Commissioner Sudam Khade and officials of Prashanti Medical Services and Research Foundation were present.

Foundation will provide free treatment to children affected by congenital heart disease at Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital, Ahmedabad. As many as one thousand children will be treated free of cost. The state government will bear the travel expenses.

Relief To Suffering Children 

Chief Minister said that this initiative of the Foundation, which is working on the philosophy of  “Vaishnav Jan To Tene Re Kahiye Je- Peer Parai Jaane Re“.  About 9 children out of one thousand living children are suffering from congenital heart disease. The cost of treatment ranges from one lakh to five lakh rupees. Therefore, this treatment becomes difficult for the poor and lower middle class families.

Children can lead a normal life if diagnosed timely and proper treatment starts early. It was decided to launch the Mukhyamantri Bal Hriday Upchar Yojana under which arrangements have been made for the treatment of children at Narayana Hrudayalaya Mumbai, Chirayu Hospital Bhopal, Aurobindo Hospital Indore.

The State Government entered into contract with Prashanti Medical Services and Research Foundation in 2019 for two years. Now MoU is being extended. A total of 117 children have been provided free treatment.
