A special court (PC Act) in Tikamgarh sent four officers of the Nagar Panchayat Jeron Khalsa in Newari district to 14 days judicial custody in the PM Awas Yojna scam.

Nagar Panchayat Jeron Khalsa, former chief municipal officers Uma Shankar Mishra and Nawab Singh, sub engineers Sujan Gupta and Abhishek Singh Rajput to 14 days judicial custody on Thursday.

EOW Superintendent of Police Devendra Singh Rajput said the accused persons were arrested in Jabalpur and were taken to Tikamgarh where they were produced before the special court.

The EOW has registered the case against 13 accused persons under sections 420, 120-B, 467, 468, 471 of IPC and 7(c) of Prevention of Corruption Act.

The investigation is going on in connection with nine accused persons.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during campaigning of by-polls in Prithvipur assembly seat in Tikamgarh in September 2021 received several complaints of allocation of funds of PM Awas Yojna some Rs. 2.50 crore to 115 ineligible persons for house construction.

Chouhan than instructed the officials to take action against those involved in the corruption.

Subsequently the state government instructed the EOW to probe into the matter and a case was registered on January 10, last.

EOW inspector Swarnajeet Singh Dhami is the investigation officer in the case and on getting clues against the accused they were arrested.
