Amitabh Thakur, a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Uttar Pradesh, stated on Saturday that he will run against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the forthcoming assembly elections. Thakur accused Adityanath of doing various “undemocratic, divisive, and discriminatory acts” during his tenure in a video statement posted to his Twitter account.
“Several friends have asked me to run against Yogi Adityanath after I stated my desire to do so yesterday.

I have chosen to contest the forthcoming assembly elections against him from whichever constituency he contests the polls,” the former IPS officer said in a tweet, which was accompanied by a video message in which he declared he will run against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.
