According to family and police reports, the mother of slain Bihar Station House Officer (SHO) Ashwini Kumar died on Sunday (April 11) from shock.

Kumar’s elderly mother, who lived in Abhyaram Chakla panchayat in the Jankinagar police station area of Kishanganj district, couldn’t bear the loss of her son and died at home, according to PTI. On Sunday, Kumar’s and his mother’s final rites were held in their village in Purnia district.

The daughter of the slain SHO has dubbed the assassination of her father a “conspiracy” and requested that the matter be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). “This is a conspiracy, and I want an investigation by the CBI. Despite possessing weapons, they left my father alone. Both those who fled should be prosecuted, not just circle inspector Manish Kumar. After my father died, my grandmother died of shock as well,” Kumar’s daughter told ANI.

Meanwhile, seven police officers have been suspended for dereliction of duty after going to the West Bengal village with the slain officer in connection with a motorcycle robbery case but fleeing when assaulted and leaving Kumar behind.

On Saturday, Ashwini Kumar, the SHO of the Kishanganj police station in Bihar, was reportedly beaten to death by a mob while leading a raid in connection with a motorcycle theft case in Pantapada village in the Goalpokhar police station area of Uttar Dinajpur district in West Bengal.

The SHO was leading a raid party to apprehend the kingpin of a motorcycle-lifting gang operating in Bihar’s Seemanchal area, which includes Purnia, Katihar, Araria, and Kishanganj. The assault on the SHO was sparked by the gang’s kingpin, Firoz Alam, who incited a crowd of about 500 people. Kumar died instantly.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident in West Bengal. Firoze Alam, Abuzar Alam, and Sahinur Khatoon have been identified, according to officials.
