The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) team conducted search in residence of RTO Santosh Pal posted in Jabalpur and his wife Lekha Pal working as clerk in Regional Transport Office into amassed wealth disproportionate to their known source of income on Wednesday night.

The EOW received complaint against Pal and his wife on examination the assets of them was found 650 times higher to their known source of income, EOW superintendent of Police Devendra Singh Rajput said.

The EOW conducted searches in two houses and one farm house of Pal and found Rs.16 lakh cash, jewellery and certain documents related to properties, the search started on Wednesday night and still continue till mid day on Thursday.

The interior of the houses was very lavish having home theater, swimming pool, luxury items, etc, the team found.

EOW Inspector Swarnajeet Singh Dhami examined a complaint received against Regional Transport Officer Santosh Pal and his wife Lekha Pal clerk in the RTO office Jabalpur of corruption and amass wealth.

Dhami investigated the complaint and found the immovable and movable assets owned by Pal were around 650 times higher which was prima facie disproportionate to his known source of income.

Thereafter case was registered under section 13(1) B, (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act.

As per the investigation of complaint, the accused person possessed five houses, one farm house, car, SUV and 2 two wheelers.

The team of EOW conducted search in the residence of Pal to assess the expenditure and acquired properties.

The team including Deputy Superintendent of Police AV Singh, Inspectors Uma Naval Arya, Swarnajeet Singh Dhami, Prerna Pandey, Shashikala Muskule, Momendra Kumar Marskole, Sub inspector Govind Singh Yadav, Chandrajeet Yadav, Vishaka Tiwari, Roshni Soni and others staff.
